![]() | Robert Stanton Appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Department of InteriorDr. Robert Stanton, Executive Professor in our department, has accepted Department of Interior Secretary Salazar's offer to assume a key position as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Department of Interior. Dr. Stanton's appointment to our faculty has been made possible through the support of Dr. Hussey and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, as well as the Dean of Faculties of Texas A&M University. Dr. Stanton is former Director of the National Park Service, and was the first Director appointed who was required to be confirmed by the Senate. He is recipient of numerous prestigious awards, most notably awards related to leadership in conservation. He is also the first African-American to serve in that position. Dr. Ellis Announces Robert Stanton Dinner SeriesI am pleased to announce that, at the request of the Aggie REPS and their in-coming and out-going sponsors, and with the approval of our Executive Committee, we will launch the Robert Stanton Dinner Series during Academic Year 2010. This action is to honor the extraordinary career of Dr. Stanton, and to recognize his distinguished service as an Executive Professor in our Department.
